In Blood of Christ, I paid homage to a religious, liturgical upbringing. I set up a table for Holy Communion, the smell of the Blood of Christ was overpowering. I began reading passages from my childhood Bible, passages that caused me to leave the faith.

"Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (I Timothy 2:11-14)

After each verse, I took a shot of the communion wine.  I gradually began to feel the effects of the Blood of Christ in my system. I read these verses to acknowledge my complicity in a system that serves to keep women oppressed.
